I started by having the music store that had helped me when I founded my company introduce me to other music stores where I could sell the double bass cases I produced, and I began wholesaling my products. I had enthusiastically manufactured the double bass cases, thinking, "Everyone will want these," but they didn't sell as well as I'd hoped, and I was troubled.
Overseas cases were overwhelmingly cheaper, so I thought, "Perhaps they weren't chosen because of the price. There's nothing I can do about it." However, instruments are expensive. I felt disheartened thinking, "They're putting such important instruments into a case that costs tens of thousands of yen."
But I couldn't turn back! I founded my company with an unshakeable resolve, so I was sure there must be people looking for double bass cases made of good materials and quality, and I was certain I would meet such musicians. I kept my aspirations high and motivated myself daily, knowing I had to get the business on track to continue it.
I also felt there was a possibility of providing work to the sewing artisans and others who had helped me in the past, so there was also a desire to repay their kindness.
Currently, as a double bass player, I am preparing to sell products that I felt "would be easier to use if this part were better."
